Re: World Pig’s Feet Eating Championship
You incorrectly identify the host of the above contest as the New Jersey State Fair (http://njstatefair.org/) The contest is hosted by the "State Fair Meadowlands" (http://www.njfair.com/) which is a commercial enterprise that is not affiliated with the NJ State Fair.
This years NJ State Fair will be held in Augusta NJ from July 31st through August 9th.

I would run a marathon but not a marathon des sables (the one in the desert where your feet bleed into plastic bags) and I would happily eat four dinners but I would never competitive eat where the prize is to feel worse than you did before? not that I can do any of these things, because I've give up competing. So i'm living vicariously through you.

This is a great idea for a blog (I'm an amateur eater myself) and have often wondered about issues like this.

Do you really think a game day morning meal to boost your glycogen reserves to aid digestion is necessary though? Aiding digestion only helps after the contest, not during. Also the morning meal to increase energy during the contest might seem like a good idea, but I always fast for 18 to 24 hours before every contest and I've never felt a lack of energy during a 10 minute event. The adrenaline rush of competition is more than enough fuel for me.

Still, everyone's body works in different ways, so what might be good for one person (a morning meal) might not be good for others (I find the gnawing hunger to be a big psychological boost for me).

Once again, welcome to the competitive eating blogosphere...keep the entries coming!!!

Wow I can't believe I stumbled upon this... My buddy and I just made reservations at this restaurant to take on the 15 pounder on Monday Nov. 17th. We're going to the Steelers game on Sunday and decided this would be a great way to finish the weekend. We were hoping to be the first people to complete the challenge, but we were sadly informed as we were calling to let them know to have one ready, that this man had done it (alone!) recently..

The 2 person challenge that we will be doing has a 4 hour time limit. Last Sunday I put away a 4.6 lb Wawa sub (two footer) in just under 45 minutes, so I'm feeling pretty confident about throwin' down half this burger rather quickly.
